Dirk Bikkembergs: Urban Amazons

MILAN, Feb 25, 2004/ FW/ --- Last Monday, Dirk Bikkembergs debuted his womenswear line on the Milan runway, and what a debut!

Urban Amazons in total synch with her whims, desires and needs walked the runway with allure and sensuality that the whole room turned steamy.

If the Dirk Bikkembergs gentleman is a sports aficionado, the Dirk Bikkembergs woman is a femme fatale who is potent, luscious and believes in total freedom.

With thigh high boots and soft leather gloves, she is ready for action --- anytime and anywhere.

She’s not scared to take chances with her fur vests, peek-a-boo short-cropped leather jackets that don’t truly close and show a hint of breasts and navel… a totally seductive look.

The designer also played with logos, putting it on the scarves, chiffon jacquards, graphic silk and as a closure for blouses.

He even had time to design bags and knitted hooded vests that are open on the front sides. These items alone will be hot sellers come fall.

For evening, the stretch voile gowns and micro-mini dresses molded the torso that it looks like they have been designed right on the body.

The designer also played with colors, sending all shades of red, emerald green, and gold on the runway, to complement the formal black.

My favorite in the collection are the boots! Made of soft leather that hugs the legs and sometimes all the way through the thighs, they have buckles or zips that open and rearrange the boots in total freedom.
