MILAN, Jan 17, 2005/ FW/ --- Each season when I review Dirk Bikkembergs’ show, I can never guess what to expect. The notation of a sport’s couturier is an obscenity to the French, but somehow this idea is working for this football lover.
As usual, Bikkembergs used real footballers for the show with an average height of 5’6. Three female models escorted by three male models got this tea room gathering to a feisty, but silent start.
This definitely made a presence considering that these female models were actually wearing well-designed gowns in black satins and chiffons with the men semi-dandied in all black suits.
One of the gowns was constructed with chiffon which left nothing to the imagination while another was hooded which revealed a low butt cleavage.
Of course the suited escorts sported their usual cleat inspired trainers instead of the expected shiny shoe.
This sports couturier showcased some really great tailored blazers in teal blue and black with a metallic finish. This metallic shine is also seen on bubble coats in gold, black and bronze. Fur inspired insulation bomber and trench coats looked functional as well as edgy.
Fitted athletic stretched pants showed all of the footballers curves styled with shirts and ties and layered with a sports vest. With the use of pasty pink in the collection, reverse zipper jumpers and body shirts gave these manly men a softer demeanor.
Footballers will not only look stylish next winter, but also be very colorful as well.
