MILAN, Jun 26, 2005/ FW/ --- German born Dirk Bikkembergs Sports Couture 2006 is ‘chic and white’ for the man searching out something fresh and crisp, lean and charming.
Set on the terrace of the 10th floor of Milan’s most exclusive hotel, the Bikkembergs collection sizzled under the bright spotlights and bubbled in the reflection of champagne. Sport is not only about sweaty men in running short, it is a way of life, or at the least a fine looking wardrobe of tailored essentials and innovative sports fabric comfort.
The 2006 World Football Cup is this seasons inspiration and the creative force behind the collection. ‘I wanted to bond a typical macho event like the World Cup with an ethereal colour like white rarely connected with men’ says Mr. Bikkembergs.
Super lightweight bathrobes appear like trench coats and are freed from the locker room, while suits in all white with lapels often initialed with the DB logo and buttons of mini soccer balls turn head both day and night, taking the formal out of the all too often stuffy suit.
Piping adds a touch of difference as do small silver flower buttonholes and tie clips that bring elegance through attentive detail.
Slim silhouettes show off taut bodies full of sex appeal that goes beyond the football field, whether dressed in colored flag motifs of the teams competing in the event or washed denim and sports coat, the Bikkembergs man is always alluring.
Maxi bags in the shape of soccer balls accessorize the collection along with charms that dangle on the nude torso, and patent leather shoes move away from the well-known Bikkembergs sneaker.
