Apr 22, 2002/FW/ --- Staying true to their very provocative runway shows, twin brothers Dean
and Dan Caten of DSQUARED2 decided to visit the "underprivileged world" for Fall 2002.
Getting inspiration from the homeless, DSQUARED2 presented "no size, no season, no
sex" in its collection.
The designers mixed the unexpected, the unusual, the "unlogical."
True to the "homeless," who had to make do from what they find and what they need, the
collection was a mishmash of shapes, and a mishmash of seasons!
It was both summer and winter, with a tourist t-shirt matched with a tailored coat.
Though the look was inspired by the homeless, the fabric were definitely luxurious - luxury
wool was mixed with mink.
From washed cotton, to lasered corduroys, washed leather and
denim that glow in the dark, Dean and Dan did not scrimp in giving the best to their
clients and fans.
With this "mishmash" of elements, it would have been easy to get lost. But not Dean and Dan.
They pulled it off with aplomb!
The elements converged into one, the theme remained intact and the collection, a very tight
presentation of looks.
Like what their show notes said, "It's creative energy. It's for the real people, the people
on the street.
The underprivilige meets the luxury of Italian fashion.
