MILAN, Feb 26, 2004/ FW/ --- It’s about nature, the mountains and celebrating their roots. Canadian twins Dean and Dan Caten give us redneck sexy mountain climbing chicks in stilettos.
Last night at a well known nightclub in Milan on a backdrop of mountains where snow fell at the end of the show and complete with a mini railway that accompanied modern city beauties down to the runway, dressed in looks proposed by the twins for next fall that are bound to keep males and minds hot and steamy if nothing else.
Denim is a key player in the collection from capri pants to shirts and jackets tied around the waist. Tight and sexy, the female silhouette becomes playful.
DSquared women are teasers, tickling whoever takes their fancy.
Rock and roll, modern and awkwardly urban where short is short and taut outfits become second skin.
Bodices are elongated through wide 80’s elastic belt similarities in knit and leather and mini jackets are cut high and become bolero like, as do the fur vests and little knit sweaters.
Luxury this season is reserved for the fur stoles, mixed and matched with any of the many versions of daywear, whether it be warm knit, black and red country plaid or halter neck tops held up with mountain climbing rope.
Icons from the Caten Canadian homeland are spread throughout, like the acorn buckles on belts, ropes as accessories, fur on caps and slogans that are apparently the antithesis of international fashion catwalks like ‘I love beer’ and ‘fuckin' freezing’.
These two do some fun styling and are great at mixing and matching elements that often have nothing to do with one another like the little white tailored tuxedo jacket and leather pants.
The daringness of the metropolis fused with the proper prudeness of the country, DSquared is bound to continue on its streak of favouritism among the young and trendy players that are always looking for any excuse to break the rules, and this is yet another occasion.
