MILAN, Feb 27, 2005/ FW/ --- Celebrating their tenth year in fashion, the D Squared Caten brothers made sure their ladies followed their male counterparts footprints in the search of a new religion, street wear chic and the power of new subtle sexiness.
In this congregation of love, Dean and Dan long for summer, sending out bright prints of Canadian motifs idealized for sunlight and teaming them up with soft and cozy sheepskin and lambs wool for warmth.
Layering has always been an essential part of the D Squared collections, and this season is no exception. Little leather jackets are worn under tailored coats, while fur wraps hug necks and line collars as luxury comes face to face with stylish urban wear.
Leather pants and custom jeans from the Canadian duo are as low riding and sexy as ever, though apart from a few low back cut dresses, their sexy trademark has taken a leave of absence, instead church pews filled with lovely pleated barely below the knee skirts.
Elegance meets the street, as city looks are made even more functional with outer pockets on jackets and maxi bags, while sweatshirts are worn with neat and classically cut dresses along with baseball caps, leaving little tailored jackets that accentuate the upper torso worn with denim to give a slim female silhouette.
More feminine than ever, leather and lace dance together, hemlines are longer and embellished with just the right amount of decoration and gold chains decorate evening dresses.
Trousers have added volume in all the right places being cut in a traditional male sartorial fashion, either tapering under the knee or falling straight to just above the ankle. So just perhaps ‘the son of a preacher man’ didn’t just have one lesson to give, maybe he was also a fashion guru!?
The recurring 1950’s continued to underline the D Squared collection, along with bold colors, a fun attitude and sultry female expression.
