MILAN, Oct 23, 2004/ FW/ --- Summer as defined in the D Squared dictionary, is not only the season in which the majority of vitamin D and UV is radiated by the sun, but the best time to Party, and Milan is where it is definitely at.
Sprinkled with sex bombs, this spring summer 2005 collection for the celebrated Canadian duo is sensual and naughty.
With all its irony attached, Milan is perhaps now, more than ever, the last persistent fashion party city. There is no drinking age, smoking is allowed almost everywhere and hotspots close after 5am.
So when the spice of Hollywood chic, the freedom of colorful Hawaii and the coolness of Milan style are put into a giant shaker resulting in a mouth watering Dean and Dan smoothie finished off with a luscious cherry, all that is missing are the real palm trees and lip shaped swimming pool.
Its mini, flesh frenzy, bold and eclectic as the 1950's persist in D Squared land while diving into the dazzling 70's, hinting at optical prints on denim and Hawaiian gidget style, psychedelic floral and mini shorts. Tight or flowing, subtle or in your face sexy, this is a collection aimed not at the lighthearted.
Tuxedo's are snipped and shortened, like everything else for that matter, while pockets are external ala Dad's old safari jackets and hippy chic embroidery appears on kaftan reminiscent shirts. Leather is tight and western with fringes accompanied by 'top banana' belt buckles.
D Squared angels are urban chameleons as they go from haltered and obliquely cut swimwear, high waisted and slightly flared trousers to evenings that are fastened by jewel encrusted Hollywood closures while tails and butterfly sleeves dance in the light summer breeze.
