MILAN, Jan 18, 2007/ FW/ --- Fashionistas always look forward attending the DSquared shows because Dean & Dan Caten, the twin-brothers behind the label DSquared always present shows that are so much fun to watch.
And this season wherein old-fashioned masculinity and futurism are the major trends, they mixed two very successful sci-fi films franchises, ‘Mad Max’ and ‘Chronicles of Riddick’ to come out with a collection that is meant for today.
A stage that looked like it came straight out of the set of the Mad Max series, and half-naked male models showing off their abs and six-packs, the first look featured low rise leather trousers, military boots, the model wearing a leather gauntlet, his white tee saying ‘DSQUARED BITIN’ printed on a pink charcoal drawing of a dog.
Though the atmosphere might be futuristic, the theme obviously centered on a group of futuristic underground warriors in a world gone mad, the clothes are definitely for today with the skinny ties on white shirts, boxy shoulders or suits and coats that are paired with low rise denim jeans or carpenter pants.
Bomber jackets in natural fiber were lined with fur that actually peeked at the oversized collars and/or hoods. Down filled neoprene vest and ski jackets were shown in vibrant shades of yellow and red. Tuxedos took a warrior-like look when worn with an armored vest.
It was a fun collection that would surely satisfy DSquared fans from both sides of the Atlantic and beyond.
