MILAN, Mar 23, 2005/ FW/ – Karl Lagerfeld is a master craftsman of elegance and timeless sophistication, and in a season where one of the biggest trends for Milan is fur, the Italian giant Fendi should be smiling from ear to ear.
The autumn winter 2005/06 collection is all about luxury, so without a specific era or theme attached, Lagerfeld sent out a wardrobe of individual pieces that dedicated Fendi ladies will long to possess, while no doubt transforming many others into new fans along the way.
By contrasting the modern with the everlasting, oversized down jackets are worn with simple dresses often printed with art inspired designs, hemlines clearly shortened to above the knee in a clever color palette that disguises fabrics and textures.
Structured jackets, a cape style fur bolero and volume coats, paper bag waist skirts and fur opulence are all part of this ultra lavish wardrobe Lagerfeld crafts with an attentive eye.
Volume in skirts is played against high necklines and an accentuated upper torso. Jersey dresses are romantic while remaining decisively cut. Military influences through shoulders and double breast closures are also sprinkled throughout the collection.
For evenings hemlines are lengthened and softened even further by velvet. Sensuality is feminine as sexiness becomes attitude and style with cut away shoulders and front plunging cut outs that extend from elegant high necks.
Then there are the accessories. Bags that range from the reinterpretation of the classic F logo to floral and mini pom poms in a longing for spring and light, boots are knee length and square toes, simply mono toned or encrusted with sparkling crystals.
With this collection Fendi returns to great individual pieces, enduring feminine style and a simply luscious approach to being a contemporary lady.
