MILAN, Jan 21, 2005/ FW/ --- Silvia Venturini Fendi went beyond expectations for the autumn winter 2005/06 presentation of Fendi’s menswear collection in Milan on Wednesday in a display of living canvases inspired by 16th century artist Caravaggio.
The pictures in movement are living emotions that arise from sensations and feelings on a precise path arrested in time, but moving in space.
‘Precise emotions born of his pictures, his figures, his colours, his games of light and shade. Capturing sensations and atmospheres not interpreted with irreverent creativity but with great admiration for such a modern artist in this inevitably precarious existence.’ Press notes state.
Intense and charmingly bathed in light, the Fendi collection is simply gorgeous. With mink as soft as clouds, knitted trimmings on blazers, jester jumpers, velvet details and the number 19-25 detailed on jackets highlight Fendi’s history.
‘From the past to toady. Fashion that passes through time yet is timeless.’ Details are precise and studied making up a luxurious wardrobe of various fabrics from leather to lace, loden to flannel, prince of wales and cavalry.
Accessories are hand painted and embroided, bags are maxi for travel and shoes two-tone lace-up.
Fendi succeeds in turning fashion into emotion by telling a story that brings cinema closer to fashion than ever. Directed by 23 year old Silvio Muccino, this young Italian actor and scriptwriter creates 11 moving canvases in this unusual art gallery.
Stunning and innovative, the Fendi man is contemporary and fascinating as he travels down a road of an unknown future, his roots are pure, based on sincere feelings and wonderment, poetic synergies and romantic attitudes.
