Fendi DALLAS, Aug 4, 2006/ FW/ --- Recognizing the changing demographics in the U.S. and around the world, Fendi proposed sartorially futuristic silhouettes that are sportive and casual.

Trousers are slim and the waistline is natural, while belt loops are optional. The color palette is neutral – black, white, gray, beige and sand.

Suit jackets are one-button, two-button and double-breasted, with four-button on the sleeves, a nod to classical tailoring. Cut straight on the shoulders and the shoulders rounded, the fit is relaxed and casual.

Ties are optional. In fact, the tuxedo and smoking jackets are worn over deep V shirts or unbuttoned golf tees. Vests are very deep V pullovers that are blousons.

It was in the innovative jackets and trench coats that Fendi broke new grounds. Black trenches in high tech fabric had hidden plackets and sheered at the waist that is covered by a belt made of the same fabric. Leather trenches are more classical with shoulder boards but given big utilitarian pockets. The traditional trench coat was retrofitted with a hidden placket and only half the belt could be seen, the other half hidden inside the coat.

Blouson jackets featured topstitching as details. Done in high-tech fabric, it was given big pockets with flaps as closures. Like the blouson, the bomber jacket was also constructed from high-tech fabric. With the traditional shoulder board, gathered hem and sleeves, the pockets were closed with zips while the collar is so tiny that it was almost non-existent.

Even with these innovative takes on the multiple variants of the jackets, it was the accessories that destined this collection to be an echo boomer favorite. Laptop covers in silver and white, embellished with the Fendi griffe; iPod and cell phone holders worn around the neck and tiny messenger bags and coin purses that can be worn around the neck, on the shoulder or just handheld.

And the best thing about this collection, it is truly global and could fit from Princeton to Stanford campuses, to universities in Tokyo and Hon Kong, Sydney to Perth and of course anywhere in Europe.

Now, the only question that remains – can the echo boomers afford it? Well… they have rich parents, the baby boomers!
