PARIS, Mar 10, 2004/ FW/ --- Gaspard Yurkievich continues to amaze the fashion flock with his creative turns. For his menswear collection, he used sportive elements and turned them into streetwear. For womenswear, he went to see Mother Nature and asked if he could use some natural elements and make them techno.
It sounds like a contradiction of terms, but the clothes are definitely not. Using shells as the base material, the designer added glittery beads, strung the shells together and made a short cape and bib.
It’s a total convergence of nature and techno looks, especially that the venue, the BETC Euro RSCG, was turned into a nightclub with laser lights and techno music.
Opting for a very fast-paced show, with the models barely stopping at the end of the runway for the photographers, Gaspard Yurkievich sent his techno ladies wearing a white mohair vest, draped in front, that also acted as a blouse, drainpipes with black grass skirts strung together with Swarovski crystals, and flapper inspired mini dress, again with black grass skirts as finishing touches on the hem.
The clothes are not for everyday use, that’s for sure. It’s for the club going set who wants to be edgier than the next gal.
