PARIS, Jul 3, 2004/ FW/ --- Gaspard Yurkievich returned to the Pompidou Centre where he literally staged his sex, rap & vogue filled Spring/Summer 2005 men’s presentation. Titled “Big Fun!” that just what the young designer gave the audience of journalists, buyers and spectators.
Gasper’s collection was short, sweet and wearable. White jeans and shorts with black splattered all over them began what would be a never-ending climax throughout the presentation. His black hooded sweatshirt in jersey featured motifs that looked as if they were cut pieces of glass. This same garment is available in black.
His light teal athletic outfit in jersey is light and can be easily worn. The tank top done in three panels of colours is sure to be making its way to a mall near you.
Gaspard Yurkievich collection is for young, youthful and energetic lads. He takes streetwear and gives to it a ghetto fabulous feel! The total collection is created for real people, who wear real, unrestricting clothes.
Yurkievich is rapidly becoming known for his wild and outlandish presentations. The last one at the very same Pompidou Centre was all about several young men performing every sexual position that a group of lusty men can twist themselves into. Well, here again the young did not disappoint.
In a most unexpected presentation, the group of urban dancers hired by Yurkievich showed how the clothes would really be worn. They danced, body-popped, scratched, vogued and in a sexually explicit manner, literally shook what their mama gave them!
They performed to an acapella medley of urban club hits from Missy Elliot, Beyoncé, L’il Kim, Khelis to Sean Paul. All I can say is Willie Ninja and Tony Princess Milan – eat your legendary hearts out!
On a lighter note, watching the dancers gyrate and perform intricate movements infused with the free slinging of sex around made me want (and many other journalists) want to put my “milkshake” on the line!
This collection is monumental for Yurkievich because it shows exactly where he wants to go in men’s fashion. It does not have to be at all glamorous or jetset – just wearable, street and fun.
Thanks to this collection Gaspard Yurkievich should gain full acceptance among the designers doing greet things for men’s streetwear.
