PARIS, Oct 10, 2003/ FW/ --- The venerable Gres fashion house opted for a more modern and trendy invitation, than the traditional one. Golden sheets of paper, pleated at the center, with time and date of the show, were sent to the international press and buyers.
With the current ‘bright and glittery’ trend, the gold was not surprising. What was unexpected was the almost futuristic feel of the collection.
First, the model’s make up. The eye shadow was gold, and peppered with gold and silver glitter. And then, the first set of clothes was adorned with silvery rivets.
One was apt to think that the House was changing its course.
Then first model appeared wearing a garment using the famous Grés draping technique and the audience felt more comfortable. It was still the House of Grés one knows.
What followed was a collection of flowing garments – skirts layered in ruffles, Greco-Roman dresses, cigarette pants and tops finished in asymmetrical hemline.
The color palette was neutral – beige, white, black. And if there were colors, they were in sorbet shades – lavender, yellow, blue and green.
The colors might be muted, but the outlook is bright – golden and futuristic.
