PARIS, Jul 5, 2004/ FW/ --- As the U.S. enjoys its 4th of July weekend, with many Americans spending it at the beach, Veronique Nichanian (photo at left) is already thinking of the boys of summer 2005 as she dressed them in blues and whites to echo the colors of the ocean.
Nichanian who has continuously successfully anticipated the needs and wants of the Hermès clientele is giving them another delicious collection worthy of the world traveling, jet-setting Hermès gentlemen.
From the tight-fitting shorts that are actually swimsuits to the easy-going pin striped pants, both of which are paired with loose-fitting tank tops or t-shirts --- they are must haves for a weekend getaway or cruise.
The designer also gave a nod to the great comeback of the cardigan wherein she put stripes on the button plackets, giving it a very distinguished look. After all, Hermès gentlemen are not just rich; they have also very recognizable faces in whatever business they are in.
Another very interesting look is the varsity jacket that came as thin horizontal stripes in black and white. With this look alone, Veronique Nichanian widened the Hermès clientele to include college age kids. Rightly so, because, isn’t it that we get most of the top executives from Harvard or Yale in the U.S, and Cambridge or Oxford in the U.K.?
The collection is hardly revolutionary, yet you can hardly blame the designer for not being a trailblazer this season. She just wanted to have fun, like the boys of summer that she was dressing.
