PARIS, Oct 13, 2003/ FW/ --- The invitation for Hiromichi Nakano’s show featured a drawing of a schoolgirl in pigtails and laced rubber shoes. And that’s exactly what the designer presented – fun clothes for schoolgirls, from junior-high to high school.
Models in pigtails wore mini-dresses, shorts and wide-legged Capri pants. Floral prints and stripes dominated the collection.
Most memorable piece is the organza blouse with a butterfly appliqué, matched with black wide-legged pants and white boots.
And if you love wearing dresses, don’t miss the black and white bare-shouldered dress, held up with a big bow, with the white ruffles on the hemline.
It was as if Hiromichi Nakano was dressing up live Barbie dolls!
The whole collection is cute and meant to be enjoyed by girls from 12-19.
The designer also sent matching handbags on the runway. And don’t forget the knee-highs. Bobbie socks are nowhere to be seen in this collection.
One funny thing occurred during this show. When everyone was not looking, the designer came out and walked behind the models when they were taking their bows for the finale.
No one saw the designer until it was too late! There was a big ‘Awww’ that came from the photographer’s pit.
Needless to say, there will be very few photos of the designer.
