MILAN, Feb 29, 2004/ FW/ – She is multi faceted, a funny diva, plays a lady game and is always wittily pretty. Iceberg for fall 2004/05 reinvents a lifestyle that lingers somewhere between romanticism and pop.
Mirror mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all? It must be the new Iceberg woman, on a mirrored catwalk and mirrored background is she self-obsessed or self-conscious? Or perhaps neither, maybe she has taken a new road to being perfectly comfortable in all situations. But whatever the answer, her wardrobe is one of fun elements, a rainbow of bright excessive colour and luxe hints.
In the right mix of aggressive decisiveness and feminine flowing delicateness, from the first outfit it was evident that the Iceberg female has something to say and wants to be noticed wearing a tight pencil skirt and white fur sleeved leather biker jacket and towering stilettos. The female silhouette is sharp and slick.
Lacing pulls tight waists and double zips run down the sides of pants and skirts. Ladylike lace is used both as finish and detail on tops; skirts and dresses, making often simple fabrics important and exclusive like denim that is sequined and sparkling for almost eveningwear.
Like the reinvented and remixed pop music as the soundtrack that pumps out of the huge speakers, the collection mixes and reinvents sportive fun elements with the dazzling like the must have coloured flouro little fur jackets while fur hats and collars along with gold jewellery become the ultimate accessories. Trousers are tight and fitted, jackets are tailored to slightly on the hips for the perfect fit and overcoats become sleeveless.
Prints are floral and doves, cartoon heels and birds, evenings are long or to the knee, semi transparent delicate chiffon in pastel or accentuated brights. Rouging, gathering and lacing becomes a must as dresses stick close to the body or occasionally flow in the skirt.
Iceberg celebrates the fun aspects of women as well as their insecurities, dresses them in happiness and gives them ‘a new joie de vivre’.
