MILAN, Jan 21, 2004/ FW/ ---Diabolik by name, Diabolique by nature. Iceberg for winter 2004/05 mixes elements from the comic and art world, bringing make believe characters to life through interpretation, while allowing the men who dress in Iceberg to become metropolitan super heroes themselves.
1960’s poetry and 2004 street style are the ingredients for the silhouette that emerges from behind the pulsating blood red backdrop, takes from Hitchcock’s ‘The Birds’ projected onto large screens that line the wall and the cashing coin sounds of Pink Floyds ‘Money’ over speakers is the backdrop for Icebergs contemporary heroes that are sensible to art culture.
The look is clean cut and perfumed ala Clark Kent. Diabolik eyes are printed on belts, shirts and tops, as are comic strip figures, precise, observant and attentive.
This man is ‘dressed to kill’ and mixes the active with elegance. Jackets are worn over t-shirts and matched with leather pants and jeans.
Biker jackets in satin, leather, knit, college boy in pink, and slick velvet are all pieced together to create a slim line, fashion and body conscious man that at a drop of a hat is able to transform himself into fearless street superstar.
Robert Indiana is this seasons pop art inspiration for the house of Iceberg, as his numeral and star embroideries are placed on shirts and knitwear.
Evening is essential, ultra slim lapels as part of the fragmented tux and as the Iceberg press notes state “ The new elegance starts with the freedom to choose. What to wear. And who to be.”
Spy style, not flashy in black, grey, pink and white, so as to keep a low profile on the street, but chic and suave, definitely sexy.
