PARIS, Mar 8, 2003/ FW/ --- One thing you can always expect from Naoki Takizawa is to use
an ancient art and put it in a modern context to create contemporary garments.
And for Fall 2003, the designer used twisting, layering and buttons to create a very original
and artsy collection.
Using a big button as the 'center', Naoki Takizawa ruched and shirred the fabric to give
volume and shape to blouses, jackets and coats.
Seeing it up close, you cannot help but just marvel at the details!
It is not just a piece of clothing, it is a work of art!
The true highlight of this artful collection though are the 'twisted' garments where the
designer did not use any other embellishment except the artful twisting and layering of the
fabric.
The great thing about it - the model's svelte figure still shows through!
With careful placement of the twists and layers, the female form was emphasized - the waist,
the shoulder or the breasts.
The collection was utterly feminine and light even with the twists and buttons used to
create shape and volume.
