PARIS, Jul 3, 2003/ FW/ --- In an underground carpark out of the centre of Paris,
Jack Henry showed his spring summer 2004 collection.
It is true that one
shouldn?t arrive at a show with expectations, but it is hard not to when
you are in an industrial space, there is garage underground music and the
invitations have 'Rainbow Dogs' clearly printed on the front.
A retro romantic 1980's feel through the use of zips on canvas and cotton
pants and jackets, ribbon fringing applied to sleeveless shirts, multi tied
belts karate style alluding to cumberbunds and slight transparency for an
androgynous sexy young barefooted man.
The opening part all white, jackets biker style zipped and short but in canvas,
not leather.
Trousers are tailored and can be slim or loose fitting, shirts
are light and opened.
Safari, multi task jackets have multi large pockets
and elastic gathering at the back.
The colour scheme moves into smokey greys, classic one button tailored balck
jackets, beige and flashes of blue, red and turquoise.
Printing on t-shirts
and tanks, and only the slightest reference of the west through colured shirts
with pearl press stud buttons both down the front and on breast pockets.
The 'rainbow dog' in my ignorance I am yet to understand. Is it a clan, a
mix of the tough and sensitive, a way of life or the search for something
or of some place?
If it is all of these or even part of it, then Jack Henry
offers a collection that meets these needs despite not being underground
or trend setting, but one that brings elegance and street together.
