Jeremy Scott Fall 2005
New York Fashion Week Fall 2005
Jeremy Scott: Complete Wardrobe From Sportswear
By Michelle Taylor
MILAN, Feb 15, 2005/ FW/ – The anti–conformist, Jeremy Scott gave perhaps one of his best collections yet last week in New York for Autumn Winter 2005/06.
Despite the bad organization and unforgivable tardiness of over 45 minutes of long time professionals People’s Revolution for the off calendar show, Scott managed to put smiles back onto attendee’s faces with futuristic sports inspired looks and a determined color palette.
American football stars of the past are cut into clothes for the future. Kneepads, important shoulders and war stripes painted onto faces become the new uniform for the woman who battles city life daily.
Sportswear has always been an integral part of streetwear, from basketball to football jerseys, baggy trousers, caps, hoods and trousers. Scott however turns it into a complete wardrobe. Zips close long bomber jackets that become dresses while tight bodices are left to enhance the female silhouette, and lets not forget those thigh high boots for an extra scream of sexiness.
Fur adds luxury to the collection and warmth for the winter, taking from the street and adding to the fashionista must have list.
Like all good fairytales, there is always beauty hidden behind the beast and a happy ending is essential. The football warrior dealing with the daily grind turns into a beautiful butterfly.
Scott cuts and stitches, creating Asian inspired peaceful butterflies. Despite sinister tendencies via guns and weapons weaved into their camouflage, they are beautiful and hypnotic as winged sleeves mix with kimono tradition and ancient knowledge.
Water colored birds fly and ethnic craftsmanship transcends in a collection full of Scott excess and post modernism, fall is bound to be eclectic to say the least.
