Jeremy Scott Fall 2007: Venus Attacks
Paris Pręt-á-Porter (Paris Fashion Week) Fall 2007

PARIS, Feb 28, 2007/ FW/ --- The Paris and London creme de la creme of buyers, designers and editors all gathered last night under the gilded ceilings of Hotel Westin to attend the long awaited return in the City of Lights of the witty Jeremy Scott.
In this rather classic setting, very colourful Barbarellas -complete with pointy beehive hairdos- landed on the runway in a fun and energetic tribute to the asthetics of the sixties in the extreme colours of vibrant English toffees.
Themed around music -treated for instance with large black notes printed on a bright yellow base, with an impressive jukebox rendering of a fantastic club dress, or with a short beaded miniskirt in the shape, colour and glitter of a 45 RPM record- the presentation had something to do with James Bond Girls ready to dance to the grooves of Grease, inspired by John Waters’ Hairspray or by the overall allures of chic female aliens in Tim Burton’s Mars Attacks.
The vinyl interpretation of a pink Cadillac might seem fit only for venusian clubwear, just like the daring eveningwear using the circles in the 45 RPMs to protect and reveal the breast.
However, all the cotton blousons, sweaters and mini-dresses printed with cartoon-like planets and flying saucers or guitar chords, just like the shocking pink fur jackets or energetic knits are certainly renewing street-friendly looks with more commercial fun.
These thoughts might quite have been on Dame Colette’s and her suite’s minds just after they stood up from their golden chairs, as they will have the privilege of retailing this collection before anybody else, after having sponsored the successful and much applauded return of Jeremy Scott to a Paris runway.
