PARIS, Mar 12, 2003/ FW/ --- After a successful Dior show last Friday, John Galliano followed
his own act with another stunning show last Sunday, this time designing under his own label.
And this time, his inspiration was old Hollywood, right after World War II and people were
more optimistic.
It was fun and a cartoony collection, with references to Hollywood diva Joan Crawford and
Jessica Rabbit, the cartoon character.
And as each model walked with exaggerated swings on their hips, Jessica Rabbit's line
in the movie, 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit?' comes to mind: 'I'm not that bad. I'm just
drawn that way.'
With oversized red lips drawn like hearts, extra long false eyelases and 1940s shoes,
it was a trip down memory lane of old Hollywood glamour.
Maybe John Galliano has the Oscars on his mind when he designed this collection
because a lot of pieces would look good at the red carpet come March 23.
And in a season when leggings and arm warmers were the fashion accessories of the day,
John Galliano decided to go back to our old-fashioned pantyhose, but this time instead of
just the line at the back, Galliano decided to add a line in front also.
John Galliano is a roll this season, and it shows!
