John Galliano: Ms. Galliano Travels The Aden Gulf and Crosses The Desert
By: Mari Davis
PARIS, Mar 9, 2004/ FW/ --- John Galliano’s muse, Ms. Galliano, a character he created specifically for his website travels all over the world. And this time, she visited Yemen of yesteryear, when the nomadic Yemeni tribes were “romantic and poetic” seafarers.
Ms. Galliano was not on the runway, of course. Rather it was the models wearing
a cacophony of colors in their crinolines and bustles, apron-like spaghetti strap maxi dresses over mannish shirts, chiffon fabric with the John Galliano Gazette logo as print worn over sculpted shirts and blouses, the British designer is once again at his best.
As we all know, John Galliano’s runway shows is always full of drama, and underneath the elaborate looks are what will be on the store shelves. This time, he did not just give us a glimpse. He showed more of it, like the baggy pants and fur-trimmed jackets.
And if you take a closer look at the model’s headdresses, you will find John Galliano’s hidden treasures for fall – silver jewelry, ball caps and scarves – all the goodies that a girl would want.
Watching a John Galliano show is like a treasure hunt. Your senses are treated with a wonderful and dramatic presentation. Everything looks great at first glance, and when you look closer, you uncover a beautiful bounty of fashion items.
John Galliano titillates our imagination. He always gives a great show, but does not expect you to just enjoy it. He wants you to think and be observant.
It’s his magic trick, something that we always look forward every season. And every season the designer obliges.
