PARIS, Mar 8, 2005/ FW/ --- A master of theater, John Galliano brought us to the 1930s Hollywood when movies were movies and a screen goddess is synonymous to temptress.
With hair and make-up definitely patterned after the third decade of the 20th century, style icons of the era came alive on the runway wearing clothes that have been updated to reflect today’s silhouettes.
A multi-colored striped gown with an asymmetrical ruffled hemline worn with a beret and coat speaks volumes of the era.
Interspersed with John Galliano’s playfulness and romanticism, a delightful down-filled quilted coat with an oversized collar decorated with an original Galliano print and pompoms made the collection as modern and as contemporary as it could get.
Generously cut pants, embossed minis and electric pleated skirts are deliciously paired with big blouses that are either embroidered or adorned with appliqués.
Using eclectic fabrics that ranged from luxurious mink to everyday denim, it is Galliano’s mastery of tailoring techniques and ability as a stage manager that held everything together.
Notable denim ensemble is an ankle length coat that was created literally with volume in mind that two models could easily fit in it and still have room to spare.
Delightfully feminine, deliciously playful and everything is just de-lovely!
