John Galliano DALLAS, Dec 26, 2005/ FW/ --- Relatively a newcomer in the world of menswear, (he launched his menswear line in the spring of 2004), John Galliano is already shaking up the conventions of menswear.

He can cut a suit and jacket that can make a guy a fashion plate during a formal dinner at the White House. Case in point, the double-breasted tuxedo in black complete with a bow tie and white gloves.

Or, if you’re a young intern, even a junior House Representative, the white jacket and white pants ensemble, with a white tie on a dark gray shirt will get you votes from your female constituency.

Yet, to John Galliano, there is more to men’s dressing than the traditional ‘formal’ and ‘casual’ classification.

A tee shirt is not just a shirt, while a pair of denims is no longer just a pair of pants. A long-sleeved tee doubles as a sweatshirt that is a fashion statement cum art with original prints featuring John Galliano’s face among the clouds. It’s the ‘designer logo’ redefined!

The biker jacket does not exclusively belong on top of a Harley bike anymore. It can be worn as part of a suit the way it was cut to look like a short-cropped jacket.

Cardigans no longer belong just to our grandpas, but look hip-hop with its bright colors and Galliano logo on it paired with quilted trousers.

And the best thing about it – John Galliano does not subscribe to the now ubiquitous ‘hip hop’ or rock & roll looks. His definition of menswear defies traditional description of the genre.

And that is what makes John Galliano menswear very exciting!
