NEW YORK, Feb 11, 2005/ FW/ --- After almost 4 years of absence from the New York catwalk, Joseph Abboud is back as one of the very few exclusively menswear shows during the season with a rock & roll inspired collection.
Sending snug-fitting jackets with rounded shoulders, low-waisted pants that alternated between pencil-slim or wide-legged cuts on the runway, the Boston-native demonstrated once more his mastery of tailoring techniques.
With that said, let it be added that seeing his creations once again made the fashion flock realize how much he had been missed during his lengthily absence.
Opting for the rich colors of fall, Joseph Abboud proposed plaid in dark green & black, deep red & black, and burnt orange for outerwear.
New looks for outerwear include a hip length coat trimmed with fur at the collar. Dolman sleeves with a Nehru collar were also seen.
With military boots and silver chains for jewelry, the Joseph Abboud gent looks like an aspiring rock star at home on stage or even on the dance floor.
He might be citified but he has roots in the country… perhaps due to a second home in a more rustic environment. With his mackintosh and windbreakers, he looks accustomed to bucolic living.
A weekend country gent and an urbanite during the week!
With this collection, it is interesting to note is Joseph Abboud’s departure from the more traditional silhouette of Saville Row and opting for a more avant-garde aesthetics, a sign that he is courting a much younger clientele, while keeping his current ones with his main line.
