LONDON, Feb 21, 2003/ FW/ --- Amidst war protests on the streets of London, Julian and
Sophie held their own anti-war statement at the Great Eastern Hotel.
Their placard was the comforter, their statement, 'No War.'
Julian and Sophie who opted out of the catwalk shows at the Duke of York Headquarters
thought of a 'bed-in' presentation because of Valentine's Day.
Great idea, great execution, and great planning. But, Murphy's Law prevailed that day.
The winds of war was blowing towards the English Channel and it reached the
Great Eastern Hotel.
Though the two designers became 'bedtime activists', they still showed their Fall 2003
collection which is all about bedtime time wear.
What else do you expect with a 'bed-in'?
Instead of the models on the catwalk, they were 'in bed', in their pajamas, their
hair mussed, short of being redundant, they have 'bed hair.'
So, in front of the press, Julian and Sophie, together with their models 'had breakfast
in bed, read the morning papers, smoke their first cigarette for the day, with their
first cup of coffee.'
Yes... it was a great idea and a great execution of plans. And if not for the war,
this would have been a 'slumber party' where girls giggle and talk about girly things.
Instead, the harsh reality of life crept in, even in the privacy of the bedroom.
