LONDON, Feb 15, 2005/ FW/ --- Julien MacDonald gave us nothing but woman in this collection.
Heartfelt and magnificent fantasy silhouettes for a real lady are now back.
This collection is for a working woman or the fashionable chic lady of leisure who wants to look good as she shops around town and have tea with her good Judies.
High waist everythings are the in look. From skirts to female trousers, the high waist style is in. An elongated leg is the look for right now. Pencil skirts are finishing looks to simple suits in grey and brown. Puffed see through sleeves look great underneath sweaters styled with ruffle skirts.
Fur was definitely not in moderation for this collection. From soft exotic fur to leopard were on all of MacDonald’s overcoats which gave the collection a chicness of its own. A velvet tapered leg suit in a deep burgundy was much understated for the working girl. Other understated pieces included a lace light yellow dress with lace detailing which was styled underneath a brown fur.
MacDonald’s use of ruffles on skirts and gowns were great giving a 20’s or 30’s wartime spoof, but with a 50’s Hollywood glam effect. One of my favorite pieces was the ankle length pencil skirt that was tight fitting. This skirt was seen as a separate or as a suit. The lace up shoe that resembled a men’s Oxford was a notable accessory.
Julien MacDonald is totally letting us know what a well dress woman should look like. There are many women in the world, but real ladies are almost extinct.
