LONDON, Sep 24, 2004 / FW/ – While time spent at the Parisian giant Givenchy may not be filled with the fondest of memories for Julien Macdonald, the experience has given the Welshman a new curve in his designing career, presenting a 1950’s Monroe inspired mature spring summer 2005 collection.
Macdonald’s pop princesses have grown up into Hollywood ladies as they left the excessive need for all the sparkles behind and choose Chanel inspired tweed jackets and trust the Pucci print expertise in printmaking patterns for colorful sexy summer dresses.
Marilyn herself could be seen in almost all the looks, from the decorative bows to mini pleats to the high waisted and belted shorts leaving her tanned long legs accentuated with class.
Column dresses with tiered ruffles and debutant bouffant make for evenings of entertainment and candy tinted dreams.
Macdonald’s wardrobe is structured and chic as he opens his market to the world’s women who don’t necessarily need brief B grade television stints to be ‘someone’.
A delightful world class collection that may just put the knit specialist and glamour king back on the map for his design skill rather than the glitter disco name he had lately become.
