Junko Shimada PARIS, Oct 11, 2006/ FW/ --- With Junko Shimada, the adjectives ‘pretty and wearable’ are constant. A woman can always expect Shimada to deliver something that will be a great addition to her wardrobe. And Spring / Summer 2007 is no exception with the additional bonus some references to the late Gianni Versace.

While the Paris runway had given homage to Jean Paul Gaultier with allusions to his designs, Junko Shimada took a different path. She went back to the 1980s, and in doing so also found herself immersed with the work of the late Gianni Versace, one of the most prominent influences of the decade.

So, while keeping her own style of classical tailoring and soft lines, Junko Shimada also touched on the golden years of Gianni Versace.

Animal prints on trench coats and pantsuit sets, even in shorts and minis. Slashed sleeves on balloon shift dresses and of course the signature Junko Shimada hood on blouses.

The anorak was reworked, created with high tech fabric, the hood becomes a collar when not being worn and the string that binds goes all the way up the placket from the hem.

Eveningwear means going silvery or a printed chiffon dress with slashed keyholes. It’s pretty and alluring without overt sexiness.

Junko Shimada put pretty on spring, and made sure that the ladies look ladylike!
