PARIS, Mar 8, 2005/ FW/ --- Last Wednesday, Lagerfeld Gallery’s runway show was the first collection presented under the agreement between Tommy Hilfiger Corp. and Karl Lagerfeld wherein the American company acquired the Karl Lagerfeld business and trademark.
Part of the agreement that includes a global expansion plan, Mr. Lagerfeld's brands will be developed within the U.S., particularly through the upscale department and specialty store channels.
And it showed in the Fall 2005 collection of Lagerfeld Gallery, as the fashion house tries to woo the American market.
A very sportive collection, it was all about the metro girl, an urban gypsy in disguise as she changes from her high collared trench coat complete with a fur shawl to straight leg jeans and cape.
She’s ready for action in her slim fitting pants that flared at the bottom, warm in her distressed leather anorak that is also trimmed with fur. Her priceless possession, a high tech belt with fiber optic lights.
The new Lagerfeld Gallery woman is technology savvy, a geek in disguise even. But she is very modish and stylish. She’s not the girl next door; rather, she is the life of the party, the sophisticated girl everyone wants to meet.
Once gain, Karl Lagerfeld demonstrated that he has his finger on the pulse of the emerging U.S. demographics.
That said, let it be said that the Tommy Hilfiger Corporation bagged itself a winner by acquiring Lagerfeld Gallery.
