Lagerfeld Menswear PARIS, Jan 28, 2006/ FW/ --- Previewing the Fall 2006 menswear collection for Lagerfeld in the very intimate setting of a showroom, Karl Lagerfeld’s 25 silhouettes were all about cut, tailoring and details for the young urban professional.

Trousers were lean, but not leg hugging, suit jackets were generously cut yet snug fitting, accentuated on the shoulders with round sloping lines. From afar, everything looks good, the surprise is when you look closer and see the innovations.

Pin corduroys feel like velvet when touched while the real velvet was very soft against your skin, yet the weight of the fabric is heavy enough to be a fall coat and for it to be structured.

Opting for neutral shades of gray, black and beige, Karl Lagerfeld also added pink, white and blue to make it colorful enough without stepping over the line of conservative dressing.

Lagerfeld Menswear Yet, the whole collection is far from being conservative, with belts made of the same material like the pants, that although it is a separate item, it looks like it is part of the trousers when worn. The Karl Lagerfeld logo also played a prominent part in belt buckles and neckties.

And of course, this would not be a Lagerfeld collection without the infusion of fun. This time around, Karl decided to play with the collars adding little triangular shapes where it would usually be a straight line and meets the small button at the neck. When worn with a tie, the little triangle adds piazza to the total look.

Lagerfeld is also getting ready to debut its ‘Lagerfeld for Tommy Hilfiger’ collection next week in New York. There had been some confusion about the name of the label, but a Karl Lagerfeld spokesperson said that the line that will be introduced in New York will be named ‘Lagerfeld for Tommy Hilfiger’ and will be available only in the U.S.

‘Lagerfeld Gallery’ the womenswear line and ‘Lagerfeld’ the menswear line is for the whole world and will continue to be shown here in Paris.
