DALLAS, Dec 3, 2005/ FW/ --- Karl Lagerfeld’s creative genius looks endless as the designer launched his new book ‘7 Fantasmes of a Woman’ this week in Paris, and announced the launch of his new line, ‘Karl Lagerfeld’ which will debut on the runway in February in New York.
Published by master German art publisher Gerhard Steidl, the book ‘7 Fantasmes of a Woman’ features scores of black and white photos of Helena Christensen and Caroline Ribeiro.
Meanwhile, last Nov 18, 2005, Karl Lagerfeld LLC, a division of Tommy Hilfiger Corporation formally announced that the designer’s new complete lifestyle collection, ‘Karl Lagerfeld’ would make its first ever appearance on the runway during the Fall 2006 New York season.
Although Karl Lagerfeld had told reporters early November that he will be unveiling his latest collection at the Big Apple, and rumors about it had been circulating in Paris during the prêt-a-porter season, this is the first time that an official announcement had been given.
From the same statement, it was also revealed that a capsule Spring / Summer 2006 collection for the ‘Karl Lagerfeld’ line will be available for purchase in the United States exclusively at Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman store and websites on March 17, 2006. This exclusive capsule is the precursor to the Fall 2006 launch of the line.
Inspired by the energy and vitality of New York City, the Spring / Summer 2006 Karl Lagerfeld collection embody pop culture, music and fashion.
Opting for a very neutral color palette of black, dusty nudes, grays and slate for womenswear, the multi-faceted pieces is all about effortless chic.
Denim is fitted and washed to perfection. Five-pocket jeans, sexy low-rise jeans, couture screen print and laser cut jeans are the foundation. The line is infused with bold Ts, tanks, flirty silk georgette dresses, a cubist wash jean skirt, jean jacket and vest. Proportions are fresh; the mood is young.
For him, the urban palette runs from sleek black, with pops of crisp white, to midnight metallic blue. The collection includes black realist wash skinny jeans, dark denim neo wash straight jeans and blue whiskered rococo wash boot cut jeans.
A traditional crisp white woven shirt or a classic retro print t-shirt, paired with a peak lapel blazer, works for any occasion. These styles reflect the metropolitan spirit and modern sensibility of ‘Karl Lagerfeld.’
