PARIS, Oct 7, 2006/ FW/ --- With rumors that the Karl Lagerfeld’s eponymous label was on the auction block due the recent sale of Tommy Hilfiger to Apex Partners, the Paris-based designer brought the label back to Paris after its successful launch last season in New York.

Very modern that borders on futuristic; Karl Lagerfeld proposes black & white as the color of the season with shades of gray in between to break the monotony.

Empire mini dresses with puff sleeves, shirt dresses cinched at the waist with a belt complete with a necktie, slim fitting walking shorts paired with a day jacket, Lagerfeld wanted to make sure that his metro girl is ready for anything and everything.

Trousers are slim and hip huggers, the styling almost mannish but given a softness with the use of lace bodysuits that peek at the waist. In fact, lace was seen in almost all the looks, either shown as a pair of leggings that went with every mini dress and as wrist warmers.

Adding to the futuristic feel was the hairstyle worn by the models. Asymmetrical short bobs with bangs, Mia Farrow haircut in ‘Rosemary’s Baby’ and Joan of Arc cut, the models came as blondes or brunettes, as if you walked on the set of a remake of ‘Stepford Wives.’

Whether the rumors of the Karl Lagerfeld label is true or not, it does not really matter when it comes to this collection because this is sure to be a winner.

During its launch in New York last season, it was clearly stated by Karl Lagerfeld’s press office that the label is meant for the American market. Still, even with that design philosophy, this collection will sell on both sides of the Atlantic. In fact, this collection will be widely accepted even if it was taken to the Pacific Rim.
