Keanan Duffty: The Big Wait

Mar 17, 2002/ FW/ --- Keanan Duffty's Fall 2002 show held at the Puck Building last February during
New York Fashion Week was over an hour late.
No, it was not the fault of the organizer, nor the designer.
Keanan Duffty's show was scheduled after the Girls Rule show which was celebrating its sweet sixteen
at 7th on Sixth. And there was a "birthday party" via a performance by Darren Hayes of Savage
Garden.
The Girls Rule show was late because of the band set up. It logically followed that Keanan Duffty's
show would be late also.
So, everyone at Keanan Duffty had the "big wait!" All dressed up and nowhere to go.
To pass the time, the crew did their "dress rehearsal," with all the models fully dressed up
and made up.
But the practice only took a few minutes.
So the models found themselve sitting at the front row!
The editors and retail buyers were not around. They were still at Girls Rule!
Waiting is one of the most boring things to do.
And the models used the time to "visit" with each other. Remember most of the time, they arrive
at the show with just enough time to be dressed up, made up and given instructions. Not much
time to visit or keep up with what was happenning with their friends.
It was a very long wait, but worth it.
The collection that Keanan Duffty showed this season is one of the best he has done. This was
the first time that he showed both menswear and womenswear in one show.
