Kenzo: Where Western Meets Scottish
By: Marian Faddis
March 16, 2002/ FWD/ --- French designer Gilles Rosier incorporated various cultural
influences, typical at Kenzo, in a warm, heavy fall/winter 2002 collection.
He used a "distinctly British" look as his launching pad, adding a bit of the Old Wild West,
the Scottish countryside, and just a tinge of military.
Some of the layers upon layers included half-kilts over pants, full kilts with floral and
checkered sweaters, and snug checkered coats.
Barely a spot of skin could be seen in this soft and cozy collection.
Pinstriped pants worn with fitted vests and collared shirts were accessorized with trompe
l'oeil cowboy boots.
Kenzo insignia badges were spangled throughout, and, as with many collections this season,
there were lots of fringes.
The half-kilts over pants are unlikely to be a big hit, and the high-waisted kilts were
less flattering than the low-slung versions.
The bottom line, though, is that this collection is sure to keep you warm.
