PARIS, Jul 5, 2005/ FW/ --- A breakfast appointment is often difficult, but when you are seated with waiters in white serving you coffee and tea, little cakes and juice, what could be nicer? Perhaps seeing the Kenzo spring summer 2006 collection.
Divinely crafted and inspired by the twenties, thirties and hints of the seventies, the multi cultural house of Kenzo concentrates on a slender masculine silhouette and romantically merging the sartorial with comfort.
Stitched detail, along with careful cutting helps give a contemporary slant on delights from the past. Movement is encouraged in knees of trousers, pleats for trousers that either fall straight or taper at the ankle and single and two button jackets galore that are layered over shirts and light knit are all part of this neat wardrobe.
Ethnicity is wonderful and Kenzo sticks to its tradition of rainbow influences from the orient to the West. Traditional seams are deconstructed and interrupted forcing the eye to travel in new directions rather than simply up and down the garment, creating almost a new version of the pin stripe.
At times couture like in its ensemble, accessories are laced up leather shoes, belt buckles are wooden and sculptured and tote bags are cut directly from natural leather.
Lean and trim, neat and precise, the Kenzo Homme is a worldly man seeking newness as he collects from his travels, compiling an eclectic and wonderful wardrobe so as to be able to suit his needs any place any time.
