MILAN, Sep 26, 2006/ FW/ --- Sexy, sweet and somewhat dangerous, La Perla’s summer collection was ‘scandalously respectable.’ Pushing sensual to the extreme in an elegant fashion the garments were the perfect balance of telling all and nothing at the same time.

Inspired by Catherine Deneuve in ‘Belle Du Jour’ the line between fantasy and reality was blurred. With a play of distinguished and disintegrating hemlines, it was a convergence of dreams and actuality.

Many hemlines were trimmed with ribbons and laces accentuating the forms end and beginning. The play really came in on the openworked and embroidered chiffon flowers that slowly fell off the hemline instead of creating it. The illusion was beautiful and it didn’t stop at hem lines. Three quarter sleeves at a second look were full length when you saw the chiffon flowers that reached to the cuff.

The collection wasn’t only about being beautiful, but sexy and powerful too. White, black and beige accented with turquoise and flashes of gold and bronze set base for the essential palette. The clothes, as goes with La Perla, were very lingerie inspired with lace covered backs and body accentuating silhouettes.

Bows accented high-wasted cocktail shorts and puffed short skirts. They were strategically placed throughout the collection in tulle, satin, chiffon and lace. The sexy fabrics added lingerie feel to the basic pieces. Taffeta skirts gave shape and volume while lace underneath defined the body.

The collection showed feminine strength in more ways then just sexuality. Three long and flowing evening dresses ended the show is a whirl of chiffon embroideries and swarovski’s.

One had an elegant flow of crystals from the waistline in a swirl down to the floor. The piece was powerfully sensual and entirely elegant. That’s what La Perla mastered and showed for the season.
