Lie Sang Bong Fall 2003
Paris Pręt-á-Porter Fall 2003
Lie Sang Bong: Streetwalker Chic
By Mari Davis
PARIS, Mar 12, 2003/ FW/ --- It was a remake of 'Pretty Woman' on the runway. But
don't expect Julia Robert's sweetness. These girls are tough!
For Fall 2003, Lie Sang Bong literally chose street fashion, as in streetwalkers.
The show opened with a black screen covering the models, wherein you can only
see their legs (actually their high-heeled boots), which was already a give-away.
When the soundtrack started playing 'You have become my f***ing doll with a hole
for your brain,' you already know what to expect.
The models played their roles to the hilt, walking on the runway with exaggerated sways
on their hips.
Leather and fur were the main fabric of choice, with some knitwear in between.
One of the notable pieces was a leather mini-skirt that was shirred and with an
assymetrical hem. The top was a bustier, also made of leather. The model was
wearing leggings and extra-high boots.
The raw finish reminded me of Tina Turner in Mad Max: The Thunderdome.
Lie Sang Bong also showed a lot of furs, either as coats or trimmings to the leather
outfits.
Another notable piece was a black strapless catsuit made of leather wherein it fitted
the body of the model like a glove.
Though this collection will not sell to either the uptown or downtown set, it will be
a hit to the niche market of Goth and bikers.
