PARIS, Aug 20, 2005/ FW/ --- Marc Jacobs is an American and Louis Vuitton is the quintessential French. Mix the two and you have Euro chic with a dash of Americanism.
Next summer, the Louis Vuitton gent will be classical and modern, a mixing of the old world and the new, the “old world” being the 20th century and the “new world” being the 21st century.
For although Marc Jacobs made references to the last half of the 1900s like the safari jackets and the golden blazers that rock & roll artists favor, he also made a statement about the global community we live in.
Like the jet-set crowd, which is Louis Vuitton’s clientele, someone can be at Belize today and be in London tomorrow to attend a board meeting.
So, there were the Bermuda shorts and gym wear; there were also the suit jackets that were either double-breasted or single button.
Combined with the Louis Vuitton bags and shoes, a man cannot ask for more!
Marc Jacobs knows his clientele – they move around a lot yet like traveling light. So, everything is coordinated. Though it might look like things might be mismatched at first glance, it truly is not because it is meant to be that way.
We are entering a new era, and like what he had done before, Marc Jacobs stays ahead of the curve and keeps his spearhead position in fashion.
