Louis Vuitton DALLAS, May 12, 2007/ FW/ --- It was the French who first observed that ‘the more things changes, the more it stays the same.’ Since Louis Vuitton founded his namesake brand over 150 years ago, it has always been on the cutting edge of innovation.

A lot of things had changed since then, but one thing has remained the same at Louis Vuitton, it continues to be on the spearhead of innovation. Marc Jacobs, who had been on the creative helm of the brand since the 1990s has taken that philosophy to heart.

Breaking new grounds for Fall 2007, Marc Jacobs introduced a new ‘sweater / cape.’ Shaped like a pullover with a turtleneck, it was cut in front in an inverted V, making it look like a cape. Banded on the hemline, it gave the feeling that it also wants to be a blouson!

And there is the monk shaped jacket with asymmetrical hemline – short in front, reminiscent of Mary Poppin’s traveling coat, and long at the back, slightly sheered so as to give volume. Proposed with baby collar and a multitude of fabric from leather to woolen, this new shape is expected to be a bestseller this coming fall.

The rest of the collection is beautiful as always - pencil skirts that reached just below the knee, cashmere sweaters with mutton sleeves, dresses with ovate skirts and degradés gowns & dresses graduating from one earth tone color to another.

In a related topic, though not necessarily about fashion, last month, LVMH reported 3.8 billion euros revenue for the first quarter of 2007, a 13% organic growth compare to the same period last year. Fashion & Leather Goods, wherein the Louis Vuitton revenue is recorded, posted 10% organic revenue growth.

With this new collection by Marc Jacobs, it will not be surprising if next years revenue growth is sustained or exceeded.
