PARIS, Mar 14, 2003/ FW/ --- On the third day of the Paris season, emerging designer Marcel
Marongiu showed that he is ready to dress the stars during the Oscars slated on March 23.
Sending a predominantly eveningwear collection, it is safe to say that he has the Oscars
on his mind.
As we all know, couturier Elie Saab was virtually unknown until Halle Berry wore his gown
the year she won her Academy Award for Best Actress.
If Marcel Marongui wants to follow Elie Saab's act, goodspeed to him, because looking at
his collection, he has the makings of a designer to the stars.
Starting with the red ruched gown to the black assymetrical hemline with the back so low,
you can almost see the model's buttocks, Marcel Marongiu proved he can do sexy as sexy as
it could be.
He then sent trouser sets and jumpsuits with leather corsets and leather arm warmers
embellished with steel studs, giving the aura of medieval princesses on the prowl.
Unfortunately, some of these looks did not work and somehow took away from the beautiful
showing of evening gowns.
But that little indescretion was not irredeemable. The leather jackets, capes and fur
coats made up for it.
And hopefully, next season, we will see more of Marcel Marongiu's delightful evening gowns.
