PARIS, Jul 5, 2004/ FW/ --- The leading press assembled in mass for the morning presentation of Marcel Marongiu’s spring summer collection for 2005.
With a live 3-member band, the show got off to a good start to the sounds of the Eagle’s Hotel California.
A white suit with black vertically striped pants started the procession of well-done pants, shirts and blazers. For this collection, Marongiu added embroideries and motifs to his shirts for an added look of refinement. His long sleeve, white button down shirt serves as an example of how the designer works his motifs and embroideries onto his shirts.
The blazer with wide beige stripes worn with Marongiu’s white cotton jeans deserved the attention that it received from the other members of the press as it offers another way for men to wear stripes.
Marongiu also sent out long sleeve cotton and wool blend T-shirts. One of the T-shirts was cut down the middle like a formal shirt. It was held together in the front by two well-placed buttons.
Stripes and colours are additional codes in this collection as evidenced by a pink, button-down shirt with long sleeves and worn with pink pants with white stripes. A gray cropped blazer suit with motifs added depth to the collection.
His formal white shirt with cufflinks will look good in a smoking jacket and even better with a pair of tight jeans and tongs. This shirt has so much versatility for today’s male consumer.
No one can doubt that this collection is rich in colour. Among the most vivid of Marongiu’s colour palate is his long sleeve shirt in fuchsia. His jeans come in a variety of color blends with a dark base. Expect to see them in fuchsia, oranges, greens, etc.
