Milan, Jun 25, 2001/FWD/ --- Open spaces and a sense of adventure permeated the Missoni men's catwalk show
in Milan this season, in the strongest collection the house has staged in recent years.
The show had a wonderful backdrop - a giant projection of desert flames, which set the mood for a collection
that was all about colorful living and travelling.
Missoni as a total look is a bit overpowering on guys, but there were scores of great individual pieces
in this show. Slim seersucker pants in a broken pattern, for instance, worked brilliantly with simple
white shirts.
Their rippled, deep-gorge tops over chambray flares looked fresh, as did the cotton windbreakers with
high collars. Moreover, Missoni's choice of mop top models gave the show a suitably romantic touch.
Missoni also boasted the week's best soundtrack - a combination of German electronic act Neu and the
jangling sounds of The Folk Implosions. Remarkably, the music was prepared in-house without using a
professional DJ. Is there no end to the Missoni family's talent?
