MILAN, Mar 7, 2002/ FWD/ --- With the 50th anniversary of this knitwear specialist on the
horizon, it was impressive to see just how fine a job Angela Missoni, the daughter
of founders Tai and Rosita, are doing designing the house's signature women's collection.
The clothes had all the easy-to-pack-in-a-suitcase attraction we're accustomed to from
Missoni, but this time with a higher quotient of fantasy than before.
Half of Milan has played with patchwork this season, but the prize for the best example
must go to Missoni for a beautifully naive, country-style coat, which will go into limited
production.
The collection also had pragmatic clothes -- trim pantsuits, eye-catching graphic sweaters,
cable cardigans and sweaters with cowl necklines.
These were clothes by and for the well-traveled, containing hints of Peru, Venice and
Marrakech, sometimes in the same outfit.
But though multi-reference, the look was never confusing.
This season in Milan, Missoni had plenty to celebrate.
