Missoni's Real Feel

MILAN, Oct 3, 2002/ FWD/ --- What was great about this Missoni collection is that,
even though all the clothes were obviously by the label, few of the passages looked
like a "total look."
So natural and real was the feel, you could easily imagine myriad women wearing the outfits
right off the runway or out of a store.
That's not to say scores of ladies are going to pick up the culottes and long knickers
that populated this collection, as well as so many others on the Milan runways.
But plenty of people are going to be very at ease in most of these pieces.
For spring/summer 2003, Missoni toned down the colors, even if it pumped up the prints,
which featured everything from psychedelic sunbursts to slices of fruit.
Zigzags were ubiquitous, as were geometrical flowers.
The fit and lines were also striking: Trench coats were part chemises and bustiers morphed
into gowns.
A more casual element was also evident, in particular Gisele Bundchen in olive ribbed
leggings and a cardigan worn with a swimsuit.
The Brazilian beauty earned the biggest applause of the day when one of the slingbacks
she was wearing came off and flopped around her ankle.
A master of her trade though, she still managed to stride off the catwalk in a ladylike pose.
It's never about celebrities at Missoni, especially when the best-known name in your front
row is David Copperfield.
It's really about the clothes, and this season was one of the strongest in years.
