Moschino Cheap & Chic: Fun and Dashing

MILAN, Feb 28, 2004/ FW/ --- Bowties and buttons, Moschino Cheap and Chic is fun and dashing as always with bon ton goodness as little girls play dress up.

Pretend goody two shoes smirks from behind woollen tailored jackets and metal bowtie belt buckles. Floral and femininity a must, even in plaid jodhpurs and a bright purple jacket that sits on the hips complete with large buttons, a large hat and fur scarf, all meant not necessarily for horse riding but rather comfortable urban playground wear.

For good girls only the high collars, ruffles and puffy coloured fur and sheepskin coats, in a collection where bareness is forbidden.

Big hats, hints of the 1920’s and 1930’s and lots of colour. Fall 0405 for Cheap and Chic is a mishmash of special details, like giant buttons, the bigger the better and a seemingly endless array of pattern, even though at times they seemed matched together with no apparent reasoning.

Dresses become part of a patchwork doll dream as they are divided into quarters and sewn together, interesting also the contrasting suits, split vertically into striking opposites. Possibly not that wearable but definitely worthy of smiles.

Shoes are round-toed sandals and worn with fishnet stockings or boots that have that falling down appearance, comfortable and easy. Cheap and Chic makes not pretences about subtly, they are fun for this reason, it is all about being playful and having fun with fashion, irony for Moschino is the key to this sometimes too serious business, after all we are talking about clothes.

Mini and maxi contrasts, short fur skirts and maxi plaid ala picnic rug, oversize hats and the perfectly tailored jackets belted at the waist.

Moschino Cheap and Chic is the protagonist of this fashion theatre in the part of the romantic girl, cute and adorable, but intelligent and cheeky, in her attempt to face the daily business of dealing with the grey metropolis.
