PARIS, Mar 9, 2005/ FW/ --- Visiting showrooms means seeing the collections up close and personal. And for Nina Ricci’s collection that was shown last Saturday, touching the luxurious fur and ethereal fabrics gave a feeling of lightness and femininity.
Lars Nilsson who had been at the helm of the legendary fashion house since 2003 had kept the spirit of Nina Ricci alive, revitalizing the brand as each season passes.
And for Fall 2005, he brought back the Nina Ricci logo, putting it as an embossed mark on the fabrics used as lining for the coats and dresses.
And if you’re wondering why, the answer is truly simple… In high fashion, the inside is as important as the outside! Great tailors, just like Nilsson ensures that what you see outside is as beautiful as what is inside.
With lingerie inspired daywear pieces, the Swedish designer used botanical prints, bows and ribbons to highlight femininity, giving a nod to the modern romantic trend this season.
And if you love the daywear, then you will definitely fall for the outerwear as Nilsson created coats of an irreproachable style.
Long and in wool or in furs ranging from weasel, to mink and alpaca, he feminized what was already a must-have in women’s wear. His used his ribbons to create bows around the upper sleeves of his coats giving them the appearance of something other than a coat.
His genius came through in a woollen coat where the sleeves are partially separated from the underarms. The sleeves then join together with a drop cape creating the coat’s bolero feel.
Although the designer decided to make the ready-to-wear the emphasis of this collection, he did managed to throw in some very eye-catching accessories to compliment his creations.
Nilsson created necklaces and braces in quartz ranging from clear to transparent and pink.
The boots from the collection are sensible, and the high heels pumps and mules have three and four inch heels and are daring. They are done in an array of skins and fabrics including suede, lizard, satin and leather, and too bear the collection’s bow and ribbon leitmotif.
