DALLAS, Jul 13, 2004/ FW/ --- With metrosexmania hitting even Middle America, it is nice to
see men with their nonchalance outlook when it comes to clothes and still look good.
And that’s exactly what Philippe Dubuc (photo at left) gave us last week in Paris, a handsome collection with an air of carelessness that is totally endearing.
Guys in stove legged pants and loose fitting shirts, matched tone-on-tone windbreaker or jacket or hip hugging tuxedo pants worn without a belt, but with a matching vest, and rolled up sleeves – the Philippe Dubuc gentleman is casual, even offhand but definitely cool.
The Canadian designer who held his catwalk presentation at the residence of the Canadian Ambassador in Paris also gave a nod to the two-tone trend that has hit the menswear runways from Milan to Paris.
Keeping the insouciance feel, he matched it with a long tail tuxedo jacket and white laced up boots. Though a vest was present, the cummerbund was missing and instead of long sleeved shirt, a tank top was worn underneath.
Accessories-wise, Dubuc’s big thing this season is men’s footwear, sending two-tone dress shoes and runners, and mid-calf boots on the runway.
The collection is hardly revolutionary, but the styling is superb and his lighthearted
unconcern was both very witty and charming. Expect the Gen X-ers and Gen Y-ers to pick up this
collection from store shelves next spring.
